3 Summer Roofing Care Tips

Premier Exteriors Project GalleryThere are many things one can consider when speaking of roofing. First and foremost, when raising a roof, what is one attempting to accomplish with said roof. But more importantly, when the roof is done, how does one maintain their roof?

There are many things in which one should do when maintaining said roof, to ensure it’s long life of reliability and no issues.

1. Gutter Cleaning twice per-year should be undergone. It is very important to clean your gutters, in order to maintain proper water flow down and away from the roof. If gutter cleaning is not undergone, it could cause water to pool up near the roof, which will introduce water damage, thus reducing its integrity.

2. Check for Debris – Debris on a roof can be detrimental to its shingles, therefore reducing its overall lifespan. Due to debris, such as sticks, and leaves, this can influence the future growth of moss if not removed.

– It is also important to note that potential debris is also a risk. So, trim any and all overhanging branches to prevent any sort of damage from occurring in the future.

3. After large storms, you should check your roof for any signs of storm or hail damage. This also includes checking inside your attic also. This will ensure that you have no waterproofing issues with your roof. If you do have waterproofing issues, water can seep in, corroding the steel in the structure, or mold up the wood and/or making it softer and prone to immature aging.
